When my husband died I started receiving survivor benefits from SS. They cut me off twice, and after 8 months, they started back up again. At first SS said that I owed 26,749.00 but as of now I was sent a letter saying my overpayment balance is 18,593.00. If I was being oveverpayed, why am I receiving 1,302.00 since August. I have applied for a appeal but never heard from them. I’m at the end of my rope. How can I get help with this situation??
We are collecting these stories not only because “misery loves company” (!) but because we plan to share them with the Congressional subcommittee to get this situation fixed!
