I apply for Social Security for my husband because he passed away in May and in June and I went to Social Security and they said my appointment would be in August 10th which I took got a couple letters but have not heard anything yet I’ve called like four times and I am out of money all I get is pension and it doesn’t even cover my mortgage I am out of money and don’t know what to do anymore! They said that my because I’m 60 I can start receiving it and July but still have not heard anything
Well, they are giving you the correct answer. You cannot start receiving Widows Benefits until you reach age 60. If you are already age 60, call them again and tell them you wrote to Social Security Horror Stories, and they will do a followup if you do not get access to your benefits immediately.
