My son had not worked in over a year. He had Becker Muscular Dystrophy which made it difficult for him to walk, but he did work all his life, until August of 2022.
He was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma in March of 2023. He was so sick that he could barely function, let alone consider working. He applied for social security benefits in June of 2023.
Social security let his case sit with no action and no benefits.
My son passed away from the cancer the first week on November 2023.
Your story brings tears to my eyes. But as we wrote in our book, it can take years for disability to be approved. I’m sorry he had to suffer, and only wish he had applied for disability earlier — though there is little chance it would have come through before he passed. My condolences.
