I have been receiving SSI since 1995. I got married in 2015. I was separated in 2020. My husband passed away in March of 2023. I filed for his SS in September. I received a letter stating that SSI overpaid me $3290. I’m receiving SSI and SS. I’m so confused. Both checks combined is $934. They want to keep $91.40 every month til it’s paid off.
May I suggest that you go to www.MaximizeMySocialSecurity.com (Larry’s calculator) and pay the $39 to calculate the correct benefit you should be receiving. If you have trouble figuring it out, they will help. At least you will know what you should be getting.
